Why you will love this lemon dill sauce?
“Easy peasy, creamy and tasty all-purpose sauce loaded with fresh flavors” is what describes this homemade dill sauce recipe perfectly. Creamy sour cream combines with fresh dill, tangy lemon and seasonings to pack a flavorful punch in this quick and easy-to-make sauce. Fresh dill is the star here and it blends so well with citrusy lemon and sour cream making this fresh sauce one of its kind. Once you made it at home, you may never go back to store-bought sauce again. It’s THAT GOOD! With only handful of simple ingredients, it takes only 5 minutes to whip up (from start to finish). Or, I should say even less than that! You can literally count all the ingredients on your fingers just like that. And, few ingredients = less clean up! This dill sauce is incredibly delicious with a smooth, silky texture and can be used on anything and with everything. Drizzle it over your go-to salmon (baked, air fried or grilled), or seafood to poultry. Or, pair it with all things Mediterranean! With much less prep time and more relishing time, you can definitely make this sauce a day or two ahead. Make this recipe ahead and it allows the flavors to blend so beautifully. Need a healthier version of this versatile sauce? Simply swap sour cream with Greek Yogurt and there you are! Dill sauce with yogurt would be little tangier than with sour cream, but it’s equally good in taste (similar to Tzatziki flavor). So, lets get started, grab those few simple ingredients, a whisk and a bowl to whip it up in just few minutes (I mean… only 2 minutes!). More delicious and easy dips you may love to try :

Ingredients you will need
Sour Cream: Creamy base that is adding a perfect tang and a smooth texture to this recipe. You can always opt for a low-fat sour cream or whole milk / full-fat Greek yogurt (for the best taste), if you prefer! Milk: For a little more richness, taste and consistency (for a dip or drizzle). Fresh Dill: A lot of fresh dill of course! A star ingredient of this sauce. Lemon Juice: For bright, fresh and citrusy kick that balances the flavors just right! Garlic and Onion Powder: Adds depth of savory flavors. Salt and Pepper.
How to make creamy dill sauce?
Okay! So, making this recipe is as easy as whisking all the ingredients together in bowl. That’s it!
- Place sour cream in a mixing bowl.
- Add milk, lemon juice, chopped dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and freshly cracked pepper.
- Mix, mix and mix, until well combined. Do the taste test and adjust the salt, pepper and lemon juice, only if you want.
Expert Tips
Thoroughly wash the dill under running water in a colander to remove any dirt. Lay on a clean paper or kitchen and pat it dry. It’s ready to use! Milk is optional, feel free to add water, or buttermilk, or just skip it. You can go for dried dill in a pinch, but, the flavor just doesn’t compare with fresh dill. So, I highly recommend you to grab fresh dill, if you can. You can always add a little bit of sugar, or honey (1 teaspoon or so..) for a slight sweetness, if you like!
