Raita is an integral part as side dish served with any kind of an Indian meal. There are so many variety of vegetables or fruits that you can add in the yogurt to make different raitas. Personally, I am very much raita fan. I love to relish it with any veg or non-veg meal. You will find it on my table pretty regularly. Because, me and my daughter, both are crazy to dig into this bowl of goodness. Yesterday, I had made Lehsuni Methi Raita with some khichdi for lunch. And, sometime back I made Plum Raita with spicy veg pulao. They both were super hit. Now, it’s time something fresh, minty and fruity. Yes, it’s fruit raita recipe for today.
What is Fruit Raita?
Fruit raita is a delicious soothing yogurt accompaniment with all the sweetness, sourness and crunch of the fruits, spices and herbs. Nice and fresh diced fruits with some herbs and spices mixed in yogurt is just so tempting. It is absolutely easy to make and it takes quick 15 minutes only. Go easy and add any fruit of your choice. A dash of roasted cumin powder boosts it’s tastes a notch higher. Do like the spicy touch in raita? Then, add some chopped or crushed green chilies make it even better. Some people like to add coriander leaves here. But, I love mint more for this version. Because mint and cumin are good for digestion, I recommend you to add both. And they tastes so much better and fresh. You may find that some people temper the raita with oil, curry leaves and mustard seeds. So, if you like it, you may temper it. Do you know what do I do when my hunger pangs are up? I whip it up in 10 minutes and dig into the bowl. Yes, this raitas makes great healthy mid meal snack to munch on. So, this yogurt dip is not only a side dish, but also serve as a healthy fruit snack bowl. The another great point about this raita is, it is perfect way to give fruits to your kids. We mostly eat raita with rice pulao or biryani and even with curries. It tastes amazing!
How to make Fruit raita Recipe?
In a bowl, combine, yogurt and milk, mix well, If you prefer raita to be little thin consistency, you may add water accordingly. Add chilies, cumin powder, sugar and salt, mix. Then, add all the fruits and chopped mint, mix well. Serve with any pulao or with curry and nan of your choice.
